‘Without God’
Branding, web/digital design and motion design for a digital experience to promote a film.
‘Without God’ is a ‘whodunit’-mystery short film about a handful of rogues who have lost their leader. Suspecting not everything is as it seems, they squabble over who will be the successor.
I designed graphics and a website to promote the film and a digital experience activation that allowed the viewer to explore each character’s backstories in a kind of digital museum that expanded on the film’s story-world.

Museums of other worlds
I designed the digital experience to create interest by presenting each film character and their backstory in an interactive and visually evocative way, creating a compelling introduction to the film’s core mystery.
The experience is set up as an evidence-board-come-mood-board, as if the viewer is a detective discovering key details about who these characters are and what motivates them, setting up the film.
A key inspiration was online wikis and art books - the explorable museums of real and fictional worlds that invite viewers to navigate living and breathing worlds beyond the one’s we experience.

Ordered chaos
Every element across the site is aligned to an adaptive 24 column grid, giving the illusion of a chaotic sprawl and the messiness of investigation while quietly maintaining intentional structure and clarity in layouts.
The key art for each character using directed photography of the film’s actors was created with colour and texture reflecting the themes and nature of each character.
